Perenne ma normalmente coltivata come annuale, alt cm. 30-40, foglie rotonde di colore verde grigio, fiori piccoli, bianchicci. Aroma intenso, molto gradevole. Le foglie vengono usate per aromatizzare molti piatti di carne e verdura; in liquoreria, profumeria e saponeria si impiega tutta la pianta essiccata in piena fioritura. Ha proprietà tonico- stomatiche, stimolanti è catarrali.
